Make a master list of menu suggestions: Keep a running list of meals your family likes and store the list in or near your cookbook(s). This can inspire you during menu planning.
Remember good recipes: In the index section of your cookbooks, use a highlighter to bring attention to recipes you have tried and enjoyed.
Help the dishwasher do its job: Keep the rinse aid cup full in your dishwasher. It will improve the efficiency and you won’t have to rewash those few dishes that never seem to get completely cleaned.
Reduce the number of cleaners you use: A good disinfectant, glass cleaner and general degreaser/cleanser will satisfy most of your cleaning needs. Baking soda and vinegar are also very effective cleaners and will save you money.
Keep one master family calendar: List all work commitments, medical appointments, children’s activities and social engagements on one calendar. This will prevent overbooking your time.
Take back the minutes in your day: Don’t just wait for the microwave to ding or the coffee to brew. Include one- or two-minute projects on your master to-do list. You’ll be surprised at what can be accomplished in a couple of minutes.
Reduce make-up, personal hygiene products and first aid items: Throw away outdated or unused things. Consider donating unused products to a homeless or battered women’s shelter.
Follow the one-in, one-out rule: When you purchase something new, get rid of something old.
